A home for A & J ???

Is there a home out there in this new city for us?  This past week, we've started the search for an apartment in Vegas. We're on a budget, as is everyone starting out, and we're making a point to stick to it.  What that means in Vegas for us is a 1 bedroom apartment about 800 sq ft. in a decent area.  Now, I'm looking for an apartment with ample closet space and wood floors.  Aeon is looking for a space with a work out facility and high ceilings.  We both want a place that will take big dogs.  Combine those preferences and we'll have our perfect apartment. Now we just need to find it.  I've settled on the idea that we're going to live in a subdivision.  I'm a little anti-subdivision however, being that this is Vegas, that's pretty much all we have to choose from.  When we get back from LA we're going to continue the search and hopefully with all the stars aligning we'll be moved in to our first apartment of our very own by Feb 01, 2009.

Waking up Cactus

The view from our window.

I arrived in Las Vegas on Friday the 19th of December.  We both know its real, that the time is now.  I'm here, we're here, everything we have been waiting for and looking forward to is now.  We can finally be together and start our life together.  It doesn't feel real... perhaps it will when we unpack the u-haul on the 30th.  For now, slowly but surely, it is sinking in.  I'm no longer waking up next to the palm trees lining the sand in Hermosa Beach, I'm now waking up with cactus; saguaro to be exact.  I'm looking forward to my new adventures here in the desert.  I'm looking forward to OUR life here in Vegas.

The amazing Las Vegas that awaits Jana

I don't know if it'll still be here when Jana arrives on Friday, but Vegas is getting a "extremely rare snow event" and 3 to 6 inches is predicted to fall in the valley.
"This will likely be the biggest snowstorm to impact Las Vegas since 1979 when nearly 8 inches of snow was measured at McCarran Int'l Airport".
It sure would be fun if she were here to go and cavort around in the fluffy white and take pics together.  But! Since she's not, I'll have to do it myself.  Nearly every day I'm out freezing my hands and feet off (slightly used to that from all of my time on the ice) taking pics with Freud (my DSLR) and my 4x5.  Hopefully I'll get some nice snaps tomorrow once I take my mom to the airport.

Saying goodbye to an old friend

So I said goodbye to an old friend, this week.  Sherpa Ford.  He was a good ole' truck and I named him Sherpa because he was real good at hauling all of my shit around.  Sherpa was the first truck I ever owned and I really enjoyed traveling around with him.  I got to take him from Vegas out to New Mexico (where Jana and I had our first kiss) and out to western California to visit family and friends.
I decided to sell him because of the hard economic times we're facing.  With the purchase of a new car I've lowered my monthly bills and am getting more miles per gallon.

I'll miss his bumpin' sound system belting out tunes by Particle, Jack Johnson and John Butler Trio.  I'll also, in a weird sort of way, miss his squealing tires when making 15 mph turns in parking lots - those of you who had the honor to know Sherpa know exactly what I'm talking about!

What does Aeon look like W/O the beard ?

Since we've started the blog and some people have received the holiday card, I've been getting many requests to see a picture of Aeon without the beard.
However I wanted to share my most favorite photo of him and uploaded this one that I took of him outside Zion, UT in July. He had his beard in it so I uploaded another shot I took of him in September. For all of you who have yet to meet him in person this is Aeon without the beard.

Getting READY for the Move

This picture was taken at LACMA in Los Angeles and is from Thanksgiving break.  Aeon came to LA and we had a great few days here.  Thanksgiving dinner was perfect, surrounded by 13 of my closest friends here in LA, we all enjoyed abundant food and wine.   So, in getting ready for the big move, both physically, financially and emotionally I'm finding myself working VERY hard and only having a day or 2 off to pack before I head out with the first load of stuff on the 19th.   Aeon is being so absolutley amazingly supportive, I could not ask for a more supportive man.  Its a big step for us and a huge step for me.  I'm relocating my life and re-establishing my business of 5 years and, in essence, re-rooting myself in a new city.  I like the idea of us starting somewhere new together.  I'm looking forward to celebrating NEW YEARS together with Aeon.

Our new blog!

So this is going to be our new blog's home.  I hope we like, and use, 'a picture perfect august' as much as we (the royal 'we':  me) have envisioned.

The idea behind this is so that we can document the fun things we do as we start our life together.
Jana moves out here at the very end of 2008 and I thought it would be a good idea for us to begin e-documenting our progress as a couple.

I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in this blog but somehow I get the impression that I'll be using it to refresh my memory of what the hell it was we did as the years go by!

...as long as I continue to post.  Stay tuned for pics of Christmas at Tahoe & "the move"!
